Denny McNeillBiographyBorn in Cortez, Colorado in 1948, Denny moved to Littleton, Colorado in 1961, where he graduated from High School in 1966. Migrating to Crested Butte in 1968, Denny’s interest in art was sparked. He began creating carved furniture and soon it evolved into his 38 year passion for sculpting in wood. Denny is a self-taught sculptor, but as he says, “… had a good teacher.” In 1975 he moved to Denver where he worked intensely at his art and studied art by visiting many galleries, museums, and libraries in the Denver area. Eventually the demands of life forced Denny into the mainstream. Moving to California in 1981, Denny fine-tuned his carpentry skills for the next twenty years, all the while never putting down his carving tools continuing to sculpt when time permitted. In 2002 Denny and his beloved wife returned to Colorado and are now residing in the Black Forest near Colorado Springs. Denny spends most of his days working with his medium of choice, wood, either sculpting or creating his new line of furniture—Tree House Fine Home Accessories ~ Rustic Elegance with a Natural Edge~ Denny designs and handcrafts his furniture from the Ponderosa Pine that he harvests himself from the Black Forest. A hallmark of Denny’s design is in keeping at least one edge as a natural edge ~ where the bark has been peeled off of the log, but the integrity and shape of the natural tree is maintained. Yet, traditional fine woodworking techniques are employed in the joinery of this unique furniture, making it more elegant and refined than the typical ‘log furniture’. Enjoy browsing through the galleries on the website to view the many sculptures, as well as the unique furniture and accessories created by Denny.
