Ponderosa Pine Natural Edged Middle Chair

32 3/4” H by 15 3/8” W by 15 ¼” D - The seat is 20” high.

The Story of the Middle Chair
Denny designed and created the first Middle Chair in the mid 1970’s in an attempt to solve the problem of an unruly child at the dinner table. Observing how uncomfortable his 4 year old step daughter was while sitting in a BIG chair on a phone book for added height, and no place for her dangling legs, Denny thought a chair between high chair height and regular chair height could rectify a lot of mealtime chaos.

With a seat at 20” from the floor and carved out to fit a small body, the Middle Chair places children between 3 and 10 years at just the right height at the table. The chair cackle is also carved into a comfortable curve which aids in keeping the fidgets at bay. Rails are set into the legs of the chair at just the right distance from the seat to make it easy to “climb aboard”, and the front rail provides a foot rest which eliminates dangling legs that tend to fall asleep.

The Middle Chair works like magic, instantly solving the physical problems that the younger bunch, until now, simply had to outgrow. As seen in this chair for Ellie, custom backs with the child’s name incised can be ordered for a few dollars more. The Middle Chair can be made with the ‘natural edge’ feature or made with a more traditional, less rustic look.
